Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut R. Gündüz was born in Ankara in 1978. His educational journey, which started in Ankara, continued in Istanbul, where he received the title of Medical Doctor from the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. Between 2005 and 2010, he completed his General Surgery residency at Istanbul Prof.Dr. Cemil Tascıoglu CITY HOSPITAL (Okmeydani Training and Research Hospital) and became a general surgery specialist. He maintained the work tempo to which he was accustomed during his residency at Antalya Training and Research Hospital, where he was appointed at the beginning of 2011. He operated on many patients in the fields of emergency surgery, laparoscopic surgery, hernia surgery, malignancy surgery, and obesity surgery. He applied for associate professorship with the scientific articles he published during his specialization; at the end of 2017, he successfully passed the associate professorship exam and received the title of associate professor. During this period, he also received advanced endoscopy training at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital. He worked as a clinical instructor at Antalya Training and Research Hospital until 2021 and actively participated in resident training programs. He performed many complex surgeries and has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, oncological surgery, and obesity surgery. In mid-2021, he began working at a private hospital and successfully performed numerous laparoscopic obesity surgeries. A year later, he established his own clinic.
